Pet Policy

How to include your pet on an Eva Air flight?

A pet is not welcome in the cabin unless it is meant to assist a visually-impaired or hearing-impaired person. That is only service animals will be permitted inside the cabin. This doesn’t mean you cannot include a pet. You will have to check the pet in hold according to pet policy of Eva Air. Here are the key steps for including a pet.

  • Inform the airline at least 48 hours before departure - Because the airline will have to make the necessary preparations to put it in the hold.
  • Prepare the necessary documentation - The documents you need will depend on the destination.
  • Arrange a kennel for your pet - Airline-approved pet kennel of an appropriate size.
  • Pay the baggage charges for the kennel - Like any other baggage, you will also have to pay excess baggage charges for the kennel.

These four steps are the key steps. There may be a few twists and turns. Our Air1Network blog will give you further details on how to manage booking a pet on Eva Air.

Are there restrictions on booking pets on Eva Air?

As mentioned in the beginning, pets are not allowed in the cabin. You can put a pet in the hold if you can’t avoid bringing the pet along with you. Eva Air started rejecting in-cabin pets in 2006 and since then, this policy has not changed. But service dogs are accepted. Because they will be needed for assistance. Here are several things you must know about the restrictions of Eva Airlines pet policy.

  • Pets must be older than 4 months.
  • Snub-nosed varieties of cats and dogs are not accepted throughout the year if you are transiting through Southeast Asia.
  • Dangerous dogs and cross-breeds of such dogs will not be accepted.
  • Pregnant pets are not accepted.

Depending on where your flight is originating, you may need to submit documents related to the pet’s health. You can visit or contact Air1Network to know whether you will need special documentation under Eva Air pet policy international.

How much is the charge for booking a pet on Eva Air?

The charges you will pay for booking a pet will depend on the weight of the kennel. EVA Air will apply the charges for excess baggage. There is no oversized baggage charge on kennel. But a kennel exceeding 292cm (sum of length, breadth and height) will not be accepted. If the combined weight of the kennel and pet exceeds 45 kg, it will not be accepted. Here is how EVA Air pet fee is assessed according to weight.

  • When it is less than 32kg, you will pay an excess baggage fee for 2 units.
  • When it is more than 32kg, you will pay an excess baggage fee for 4 units.

What are the documents needed to book a pet on Eva Air?

Eva Air doesn’t require you to microchip a pet. But service dogs must be microchipped so that they can be identified. Service dogs should not be under training. Eva Air dog policy makes it mandatory for your service dog to have a valid license. Here are the documents you will need.

  • CDC import form for pets if you are travelling to US.
  • US DOT service animal air transportation form.
  • You will be required to fill up a declaration form.
  • Consent form to be completed at the airport.

You may be advised on the documentation needed for the destination by the official animal quarantine agency of the country you are departing from. Feel free to visit or contact Air1Network for details on how to comply with pet travel requirements.
