• Make sure the animal has adequate space to stand up and turn around.

No more than two live puppies or kittens, each weighing no more than 20 lbs, must be carried in the same kennel. They must be between the ages of 8 weeks and 6 months.
-
Animals must be non-lethal, unthreatening, and undemanding during transportation (i.e., not harmful to themselves or the kennel).
Water and Food for Inspected Animals
Customers with connections of four hours or longer must request access to their animal in the connection city to offer additional food and water. Customers are also responsible for re-checking the animal in the connection city and providing the paid receipt when re-checking the animal. Regulations state that animals traveling as checked baggage must be given food and water within four hours of check-in. They also state that they must be given enough food and water to last the entire trip.
Temperature-controlled Luggage Area
When using this means of transportation, you and your pet must board the same flight(s) to the destination. Check-in is required at least 90 minutes or an hour before departure at all other airports, however, it must be done no later than two hours before departure in Seattle or Guadalajara. You can pick up your pet in the baggage claim area about 30 minutes after the plane touches down.
If your travel requires a change to a different flight that is operated by Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, or SkyWest Flight Series 3300-3499, we allow a maximum connection time of 4 hours for the animal at the connection city as per the Alaska Airlines Pet Policy.
Pets cannot be Transferred from Alaska Airlines to Other Airlines
You must allow time to pick up your pet in the baggage claim area and re-check it with the connecting airline if your trip involves a transfer to any other airline.
Your pet may be kept in a kennel facility until it can be transferred if a delay prohibits the departure of its flight. The pet owner is liable for any expenses spent as a result of delays brought on by bad weather. A pet and kennel with a combined weight of up to 150 pounds are acceptable on Alaska Airlines. For assistance and price if the pet and kennel weigh 151 pounds or more, please contact Air Cargo.
